Creating Well-Designed Outdoor Landscape Lighting
Well-designed outdoor landscape lighting can create many different looks that can make your house stand out from the rest of the neighborhood. You might be after just the aesthetic enhancements or you might need some added safety. The right landscape lighting can provide either or both in a well-balanced manner.
When it comes to outdoor landscape lighting, you have two main choices when it comes to light fixtures: traditional wired landscape lights, or solar landscape lights. You are free to pick whichever lights you prefer, but you need to know what you are getting when you purchase each one. Wired lights give you a very consistent light night after night. They will keep on shining the same, no matter what. The main drawback is that you have to install the wires for these lights, which can mean a lot of trenching through your grass, under your patio and garden paths, and around trees.
Solar landscape lighting is powered by the sun; therefore you don’t need to run any wires to the solar lights. This makes them very easy to place, and gets rid of all the work that it takes to install wires. The other benefit of solar lights is that because rays from the sun power them, they are free to operate. They will not increase your electric bill by one penny. The one drawback to using solar lights is that the light that they put off at night depends on the amount of sun they get during the day. If you have several cloudy days in a row, the battery may not recharge enough to give the light full power throughout the night. You have to be very careful when you choose where to put solar lights to make sure they get enough sun year-round.
So, no matter whether you choose traditional landscape lighting or solar landscape lights, you can design a lighting scheme for your yard that meets all of your needs.
