Gutter Cleaning Brushes
Cleaning out your gutters can be a pain. After you scoop out the big clumps of debris that are blocking your gutters and remove all of the leaves and twigs that are loose, there still can be stains or residue left over from decomposing leaves or dirt that’s stuck to your gutters over time. While it is not one hundred percent necessary to get you gutters spotless and gleaming clean, it is probably a good idea to remove this grime if possible. The grime could be contaminated with mold and bacteria which might migrate onto your siding or garden lights and would be quite ugly on the outside of your house. To do this part of the job, you will need gutter cleaning brushes.
I say brushes and not a single brush because you might need several to do a really good job. The most time consuming part of cleaning the gutters is getting down and moving the ladder every time you want to start a new section. That is why long handle gutter cleaning tools are the best option. The longer the handle, the larger the section you can clean before having to move your ladder. You want to start out with a long handled brush that is almost the same size as the gutters. The larger the brush head, the more of the gutter you can clean at a time. However, if the brush is too big, you will only clean two small stripes on either side of the bottom of the gutter. The brush should be big enough to cover the entire bottom of the gutter, but not any bigger.
After you brush the gutters with this large brush you should rinse with a garden hose so that you can see the spots that were left behind. The next brush you should get is a smaller one with a little bit harder bristles to scrub the sections that do not come off in the first pass. The harder bristles and smaller brush head will allow you to get more pressure and hopefully remove the remaining stains and grime.
Removing the stains and grime from your gutters, may take a bit of extra time, but it will make sure that your house and its siding stay sparkly clean for when it shines under your outdoor landscape lighting.
