Garden Shade Netting Techniques

One of the easiest ways to enhance the quality of your existing garden is by implementing a couple of new garden netting techniques. The techniques are not necessarily new, but are likely to be new to the average home gardener. If you visit your local nursery, particularly in hotter climates, you will likely see some very natural implementations of garden netting. Nurseries understand that a little shade can go a long way to protecting their plants, and providing the most optimal conditions for their successful growth and development.  You can even hang garden lights from them to add an extra dynamic to your night-time garden environment.

Garden shade netting is actually quite easy to integrate into a home garden. Nets come in a variety of different styles and almost universally feature some form of grid weaving. This allows the net to provide some degree of shade protection while also allowing an appropriate amount of light to still seep through. This is an excellent way to lower the temperature of the air around your plants.

One of the most obvious places to use garden netting is in hotter climates or desert settings. These conditions often make planting some of the cooler weather plants difficult at best. You can greatly increase your chances of success by adding some netting to protect the garden from the heat of the summer sun. In other climates, you may find that cold weather plants are able to last longer into the summer and can be planted earlier than normal for a fall crop.

Another way to use garden shade nets in your personal garden is by placing new transplants and younger plants under its protection. These plants often have a difficult time adapting to the new environmental conditions and thrive with a little bit of additional protection from the heat of the sun.

Whatever you skill level in the garden, you can likely benefit from exploring the ways in which to implement garden netting into your system. Not only can it extend the life of your garden, it is also an excellent way to have a full and healthy harvest.
