Everyone loves a flower basket. Some like to receive it as a gift and others like to grow their own. It really can be a satisfying and enriching experience for you once you figure out the basics. There are however certain things that you need to keep in mind before you go ahead and get started on your plastic hanging baskets. First of all, you need to decide why you would go ahead and want a plastic hanging basket. I know why I did – I like flowers, have a green thumb and my balcony and patio both suffer from a lack of space. So much so that I have to store patio furniture in large plastic storage boxes through the winter so that I have some extra space to build snowmen on my patio.
The next step involves choosing what plants you are going to plant in there. The best thing to do is choose only those plants that will flower and make sure that you pick some plants which flower through out the year for each flower pot. This is imperative to do and doesn’t take much time. While I could make recommendations on what plants you should be using, I digress from doing so as the choice of plant depends on the region and the weather that you are in at this time.
What you need to keep in mind is that you don’t start growing too many plants in there as it may lead to rampant growth of all kinds. What you want to do instead is choose a few, maybe 4 to 8 plants that you plant in a single basket. With that taken care of, you need to make sure you provide appropriate fertilizer and soil type for your plants as well making sure that they are given the right amount of water.
